OCA Legacy Scholarship Program
Do you or someone who works for your firm know a student/young professional who just graduated/will graduate from high school soon and is looking for a great career?
• Does your company have a young person working part-time who will graduate from high school in the spring of 2026?
• Do you know a young person who completed their GED and is now looking for a career path?
OCA would like to help you invite that young person to join our industry through a scholarship from your firm—funded by OCA’s Advancement Foundation, the OCA-Member Legacy Scholarship Program.
The OCA-Member Legacy Scholarship program depends on those who are already part of the heavy/highway/infrastructure industry workforce—those who have made the industry part of their own lives. The program encourages OCA member companies to reach out to identified recent/soon-to-be high school graduates and extend a $2,000 “invitation” to a promising future worker to join your company—and our industry.
So, who do you know?
• a child or other relative
• a neighbor
• a young worker who has already/will be performing summer work for the company
All they need is a sponsor—an OCA member company willing to take them under their wing—and a completed application. Winners will be selected until funds are exhausted or until July 31, 2026.
Twelve young workers received Legacy scholarships in the spring of 2025; eighteen others received a Legacy scholarship in 2024. Most of these young people were relatives of someone already working at an OCA member company; in some cases, there were already two generations of that family working for the company! Scholarships have gone to children and grandchildren of workers, many to young graduates going straight from the classroom to the trades through an OCA member company, GED recipients, some were even beginning a traditional college path.
